GREG GARWOOD
Vocals, Guitars

Greg’s passion for music started at a very early age when he got a taste of his parents listening to the soulful serenade of bands like Santana and the Doobie Brothers. Years later he began a permanent fixation with Bluesmen such as Eric Clapton and John Mayall, focusing on the elusive guitar work and vocal melodies. This addiction to the blues was more than a coincidence that would ultimately lead him to picking up a borrowed guitar at age 17 and ‘having at it’ in a way only he could. With no formal lessons, Greg’s style was shaped by his riveted fascination of the instrument along with any musician willing to share their views and/or secrets. One of the key musicians was CWB bassist Matt Miller, who helped Greg with developing his ‘chops’ and the mindset that music is only defined by it’s author. The two became instant friends and band mates, which became the underpinning of Greg’s musical perception and innovation.

Greg’s unique sonance has been a key influence in many bands such as Fiscal Policy (1999) and the John Carroll University-spawned Detagoh (2001-03). The guitarist also had a run in with keyboard player Eric Selner’s Seven Kings in 2001, which only lasted a few months due to musical differences. However, the meeting of these two seemed [once again] more than a coincidence as the post-high school reunion led to constant musical collaboration and accompaniment. The musical chemistry between the two eventually led Greg to asking Eric about joining up with Matt and Greg’s [then] current project, which months later would become and remain the foundation of Catwalkblue. “Greg not only adds a lot to the songwriting process, but he also makes the live shows full of energy. Sometime I forget about what I’m supposed to be playing up there because I get caught watching Greg play a solo,” says Eric Selner.
