CATWALKBLUE HISTORY
CATWALKBLUE was founded in 2002 by Greg Garwood and Matthew Miller. Matt and Greg both grew up in Hudson, OH and started playing music together while in high school. Both were influenced by bands like the Grateful Dead, Santana, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, and other classic bands with great guitar players. Matt, who was trained on several instruments including saxophone and strings, started playing the bass and the two worked on several projects together. Both went to college in Ohio and eventually started playing with Pianist / Singer Eric Selner, whom they had known from their high school days. Eric had been classically trained on the piano and didn’t have tons of experience in the rock n’ roll venue… but was willing to become very dedicated after seeing the promise and talent of Miller and Garwood.
2003 & 2004: The band started to gain momentum and played regularly throughout Ohio in 2003. Through the success of the live show and the hard work of Matthew Miller booking shows - the band played upwards of 100 shows per year. Highlights of this time include opening for legends EARTH, WIND, & FIRE at Cleveland's Scene Pavilion. Throughout the years the band has been fortunate enough to play with EWF, George Clinton & The P-Funk All-Stars, the legendary Robert Lockwood and others. Late in 2003 the band retreated to Cleveland's Closer Look Studios to take its first shot at recording an album. The album, CWB's Self-Titled DEBUT EP, features 5 originals and has sold 1,500 copies. It is currently available HERE. 2004 also saw the band spread its music beyond Ohio. Most notably the band made a trip to New York City to showcase at several great clubs including the legendary CBGB's. The show was recorded and is now sold at all CWB live shows: CATWALKBLUE: LIVE AT CBGB's. Current drummer of Catwalkblue, Myron Gardner, joined the band in the beginning of 2004 and has been laying down incredible rhythms ever since. Throughout the years the band has played at the following great venues and many more:
CBGB's - NYC
House of Blues - Cleveland
Tower City Amphitheater - Cleveland
Hard Rock Cafe - Pittsburgh, PA
Wise Fools Pub - Chicago, IL
Mercury Lounge - NYC
Quicken Loans Arena - Cleveland
Club Rare - NYC
Cleveland Browns Stadium - Cleveland
2005-PRESENT: The last two years have seen the band stay as busy as ever. The road trips increased as well as the local shows. The band continued to play around 100 shows per year, due largely in part to a great relationship developed with the CLEVELAND CAVALIERS. The band was approached by the Cavs to play before several, and eventually all of their home games. It was a great match. CWB's high energy music got fans ready for the game, and it exposed the band to 750,000 plus fans each season. The band's current lineup was also filled in as saxophone expert Keith McKelley joined the band. Keith is truly an incredible talent and all who have seen him play with Catwalkblue would agree.
Catwalkblue is currently preparing to support the Cavs during the 2006-07 season and will continue to travel to spread its music.
