Music has been a major force in shaping my character and subsequent perception of the world around me since I can remember. I’ve often referred to music as the “perfect language” due to it’s ability to effectively communicate to so many no matter what their age, race, beliefs, gender, etc.
My parents, while living in Baton Rouge, LA, would bring me to the annual Mardi Gras celebration in New Orleans to see and hear the celebration and majestic floats paraded down the streets when I was very young. Many scholars say that your earliest memories shape your perception, and I would think these experiences at an early age helped foster my creative intuition (thanks mom and dad). My favorite song as a child was Barbaran by the Beach Boys. I would spend hours listening to it while rocking back and forth in a rocking chair – groovin’ to the beat. Since childhood I have held music close to my heart. No matter what life had in store for me, I always had music to help guide me through it. It is easy for me to say that without music and those who create music, I would not be the person I am today. Thank you all.
Catwalkblue is truly a unique and fulfilling project. I have the pleasure of sharing great highs and lows with some of my closest friends. We have all learned so much together up to this point, and I look forward to whatever the future holds for all of us. If the past is any indicator, we will all be better off having embarked on this journey than never having the ambition to take the first step.
